Game Pass style would be amazing for switch, but its probably not what were going to get.

4HeadPirateMon 12th Apr 2021
I called this 4 months ago and the thread I opened to talk about it got s&*% posted so much they had to lock it.
The writing is on the wall. MS has refused to give any answer then “MS studio games will be on all platform that support game pass” for months now.
When the interview asks “So … PC and Xbox?” they just repeat “on all platforms that support game pass”.
It’s not just that, there has been a lot of writing on the walls, but that’s some of the most blatant “things that make you go hummmm”
5Iggy-KoopaMon 12th Apr 2021

X cloud on switch actually makes sense and would be pretty sweet.
I played cyberpunk 2077 with practically no issues on my fricken ipad thru a safari browser using a ps4 controller. If I can do that I have no doubts on streaming other games with the switch!

I think rare releases some games like banjoo and conquer on switch and Xbox same date release. (60% possible)

Xbox gamers pass on switch (50% possible maybe only Xbox exclusives)

But yeah, there seems to be increasing smoke around this story, and where there is smoke, there is usually fire. GamePass on Switch, even in limited form, would be a win-win.

I’d love to see bigger integration of Xbox on Switch, and generally continued support.
Seeing future sequels to franchises that already exist, like Doom and Outer Worlds, and brand new franchises for the platform, like The Evil Within and MCC. Obviously including support for xbox network and Game Pass.
Oh, and patching xbox achievements to existing Titles. I’d go back and replay my entire xbox-Switch library for the cheese.

Microsoft EDGE for Switch – Since they have a running ARM version already, and it’s coming too for Xbox Series S|X – that would be also a nice feature for Switch Because i can also see the “old” MS EDGE Logo on his shelf!!!!!!!!!

Game Pass on Switch=people not buying multiplat 3rd party games on Switch ever again and Nintendo not making money from 3rd party sales. I don’t see it happening. I would love to see Master Chief in Smash or something like that.
33DarkqwertyMon 12th Apr 2021

34anoyonmusMon 12th Apr 2021
Xcloud on NS and a form of Game pass too.
I seriously doubt that they would collaborate on a brand new console tbh.

I don’t think Gamepass is coming to Switch IMO.
I do think Halo is coming to Switch in the distant future.
36Oh_WellMon 12th Apr 2021
Master Chief in Smash would be pretty cool, as would the Master Chief Collection on Switch. But, dear God, I hope this means Rare Replay on Switch.
37somnambulanceMon 12th Apr 2021
Game Pass on Switch has been rumored longer than Xbox buying Sega, so I don’t know. I just don’t believe it. Same with the Switch Pro. Master Chief in Smash and Rare ports, that I can believe. Crazy stuff, but realistic.
If Xbox and Nintendo ever seriously teamed up, however, they both be filling in the gaps each other have.
38anoyonmusMon 12th Apr 2021
@yuwarite Master Chief won’t be in smash imo.
I say that Doom Slayer will come though.
39ImBackBBMon 12th Apr 2021
Get this the “Switch Pro” is actually a hybrid console. You can still play regular Switch games but they would be releasing games exclusively for it.
Either that and/or Microsoft is either brought a large chunk of Nintendo or outright brought them…
40GamerDad66Mon 12th Apr 2021
MS declared a truce w/ Nintendo when MS had bottomed out. During this time, they released a few good MS games on Switch. Then MS fortunes began to brighten and they cut off this cooperation. Phil Spenser got annoyed because his interviews questions were all about the Switch. I don’t see more deals between them now, because neither MS or Nintendo really think they need each other anymore.
41MorphMon 12th Apr 2021
I think a Microsoft/Nintendo partnership is almost inevitable at some point. Microsoft is and always will be a complete irrelevance in Japan, teaming up with Nintendo would be a huge benefit to them. The benefits to Nintendo would be attracting a more ‘hardcore audience’ making them a more well rounded company in the west. Particularly with Microsoft controlling Bethesda now, if they cut off those releases to Sony platforms but supported Nintendo it could be a very interesting end to this generation.
42nhSnorkMon 12th Apr 2021
Eh, silly, but I’ll humour it. Unlike all the Anonymous Insiders out there, a Switch on Phil’s shelf is at least something living people have seen and have on documented footage. Speculation? Bethesda is with Microsoft now, so I’ll just be here, speculating some Dishonored ports. You know how I get.
43FolklonerMon 12th Apr 2021
Wow. This is based on something so thin, so speculative. It’s really a shame that people like Grubb and other “insiders” and “leakers” hold such sway, and get such attention now, irrespective of how often they’re wrong.
44anoyonmusMon 12th Apr 2021
@Oh_Well I seriously doubt Microsoft will want to give up their flagship franchise and make it multi-platform.
I don’t think Master Chief will be in there as HIS game will have to come to switch or share a history with Nintendo.
But Doom slayer can come to smash now. Doom slayer is now owned by Microsoft so this could mean Doom slayer can come to smash.
And we have DOOM on NS too
45DK-FanMon 12th Apr 2021
More indie shovelware.
Come on! Do you really think AAA Xbox games will come to the Switch?! That’s both illogical and dumb.
46anoyonmusMon 12th Apr 2021
@DK-Fan Ikr. That’s what I am saying. I said Master Chief won’t come to smash and MC collection to switch won’t
47Chris55Mon 12th Apr 2021
One word, only one word is needed. Clues to that word. Rare, Nintendo, Microsoft, rights issues……….GOLDENEYE remake. That’s my bet anyway.
48ImBackBBMon 12th Apr 2021
Honestly the way Nintendo has been so lacking the few years it’s no wonder people are so thirsty for leaks, literally begging for some hope through this long draught that they’ll believe anything…
What I mean is you can’t blame people for being so gullible in these dark times…
49anoyonmusMon 12th Apr 2021
@Folkloner unfortunately for you, Grubb can be right here.
He was the one of many who leaked the Mass Effect Legendary Edition, and also the one who leaked the 7 EA games for switch
50masofdasMon 12th Apr 2021
Been saying for a while now Xcloud on Switch and the whole Game Pass on your screen motto but does go against interviews with likes of Matt Booty.
I own all/will own all three systems but if I was just on Xbox, I would wonder what I’m getting from this as always seems to be Xbox on Switch but not the other way.
That maybe a collaboration on something like Goldeneye Remake would be better for all parties.
51anoyonmusMon 12th Apr 2021
@nhSnork yeah we could get older bethesda games on switch though. Can we say Evil Within for one?
52anoyonmusMon 12th Apr 2021
Golden Eye remake ONLY on NS, Xbox, and PC
53TSR3Mon 12th Apr 2021
How about Nintendo games coming to Game Pass?
54anoyonmusMon 12th Apr 2021
If Game Pass or Xcloud comes to NS, we can still get future Bethesda games on NS via Xcloud/Game Pass.
Xcloud is essentially cloud streaming the game pass games and Spencer said future Bethesda games will come to platforms with game pass on it. So right now it is PC, Xbox , and mobile via Xcloud.
The switch could be included in that as well. So essentially switch owners can play newer Bethesda games but Playstation owners can’t
55StoneyUSMCMon 12th Apr 2021
I would love to see XCloud on Switch. As much as I love gaming on my PC the Switch is still my preferred ecosystem.
56anoyonmusMon 12th Apr 2021
@TSR3 in the Nintendo switch specific Game Pass probably.
If there is a switch specific game pass with all 3rd party games and Nintendo’s first party games for 10 dollars a month, I will be happy

Master Chief in Smash
Nintendo licensing Smarty Delivery for the Switch Pro (to make sure the console only downloads the right version)
58Heavyarms55Mon 12th Apr 2021
I don’t mind them working together but I just hope and pray that Nintendo stays fully in charge or their IP and hardware. No buyouts, no collabs where only one of the two is in charge.

60JohnnelMon 12th Apr 2021
It really could be anything or it could even be nothing at all. It would definitely be interesting if Microsoft was assisting with development on the rumored 4k switch dock. Master Chief in smash or a return of Banjo-Kazooie on both Xbox and Switch would also be welcomed.

I just recall how many rather physical media.
We might see something coming since Microsoft is trying hard to get that Yen and well which platform is the most popular one at the moment?
64anoyonmusMon 12th Apr 2021
My 3 predictions.
1. Goldeneye 007 remake for NS, Xbox, and PC or Rare Replay to switch
2. Xcloud or a form of Xbox Game Pass on NS
3. Doom Slayer for Smash
65ZeldawakeningMon 12th Apr 2021
It is probably just that there are a lot of Microsoft ports and smash crossover IPs on switch that this is merely cross promotion
66anoyonmusMon 12th Apr 2021
But essentially, Microsoft is losing one of their key exclusives and I don’t they should do that. Not only that, us switch owners will then ask Microsoft to port Halo Infinite to switch and I remember that Phil Spencer said he didn’t really like port-begging
I for one think Doom Slayer is more likely to come rather than Master Chief due to Doom Slayer having a presence on Nintendo consoles rather than Halo.
67YoshiTailsMon 12th Apr 2021
Master Chief would be a great final climactic character for Smash. Though loaning Nintendo the Banjo IP for Banjo Threeie would be a dream come true.
68anoyonmusMon 12th Apr 2021
Maybe Nintendo will still stick with the current switch for a while but have a new and more powerful dock instead rather than a revision imo.

@Iggy-Koopa The cloud service they have is already Azure
95GrailUKMon 12th Apr 2021
There is no way a full fat Gamepass would work on someone else’s closed system due to third parties. It would be kinda like Jean de Flourette where the farmer builds a dam upstream and it drys up another farmers land (which he wanted to buy.) So it would have to be some kind of first party exclusive deal. which let’s face it, is where the money is for Microsoft and would be a huge moment in gaming! Would be incredible tbh!
Master Chief in Smash would be blooming marvelous.
Nintendo partnering with Microsoft to help their online infra structure could be good news.
Bringing Rare Replay to Switch would be a no brainer.
Managing to get a revamped Goldeneye back to the public would be huge.
Cuphead dlc / physical at some point?
Honestly, there is so much they could do together, and quite frankly anything they do would be amazing (for both companies.)
Ok, my favourite idea (sorry, my mind tends to wander.) Halo comes to Switch…with extra Nintendo content (like they do.) And it’s only Samus init!
96SplatmasterMon 12th Apr 2021
N64 mini with all the Rare games on it…… or Rare Replay on Switch!!
97RadioHedgeFundMon 12th Apr 2021
There is no way Nintendo, the highly conservative business company would be even remotely willing to open up the Switch to Gamepass streaming, even with the briefcase full of cash Microsoft probably turned up in Kyoto with.
However I see no reason why Microsoft wouldn’t publish more of their 1st party games on Switch. It has a big user base, many of which do not own a second console beyond a second Switch. There are plenty of Xbox 360 titles that would run perfectly on Switch. Fable 2 and 3. Forza Horizon 1. Maybe even the early Halo titles?
None of this eats into Xbox market share and yet each one raises brand awareness of those franchises outside of the Xbox fan base.
98Anti-MatterMon 12th Apr 2021

I would like to see XCloud and some games at Switch. Local games could be minor games (for MS point of view) like Rare Replay, Battletoads, Banjo… And the major games through XCloud. Nintendo could give the NES and SNES app to MS
105shgamerMon 12th Apr 2021
An Xbox 360 emulator on Switch Pro?
There’s a number of “second party” 360 titles I would love to play on my Switch Lite.
Splinter Cell: Conviction (mainly because of the extra mode Deniable Ops – one of the best “bonus” modes ever IMO – the gameplay’s just so damn cool and fun), Condemned: Criminal Origins and maybe also Alan Wake.
Of third party games I would buy the Silent Hill and Saw games and Dark Sector (a really cool game made by Warframe developer Digital Extremes – a sort of Resident Evil 4.5).

I’ve been saying for awhile that it just makes sense that some sort of partnership between Microsoft and Nintendo could be mutually beneficial.
Put streaming game pass on Switch via Xcloud, allow remote play of your Xbox with your Switch, and finally allow for controllers from both systems to be interchangeable, so if you connect your Switch through your Xbox via the HDMI-in port of the Xbox that you can go from playing games of either system seamlessly without even having to set down a controller.
Done right, it could feel like both systems are 2 halves of a whole, where the appeal comes from owning both devices, tempting Xbox owners to get a Switch and Switch owners to get an Xbox.
109GrahamthecrackerMon 12th Apr 2021
I don’t have HIGH hopes for this because it’s several years old now but Rare Replay would be my biggest hope. Yes xCloud would be great but Rare Replay almost made me buy an Xbox One.
110gameboy1975Mon 12th Apr 2021
Microsoft and Sony sure, but I don’t think Nintendo really cares to compete with any of them. They do what they always do and that’s just for better or worse doing them. To be fair with the way Microsoft has done things for a while, they seem to not care too much about any of that too much either as they seem to just want to get you to play their games wherever they can get you to play them regardless of ecosystem.
Ironically they might even be the most cooperative out of the three despite the reputation that many tried to label them with as being the great evil coming in to pillage the industry, buy up everything and take everyone’s lunch money. Sure, they all technically competing as they all want your dollar regardless, but if anything it seems like sony’s the only one out of the three out there trying to compete with everyone.the most.
111TSR3Mon 12th Apr 2021
@GrailUK great illustration of why Game Pass/Xcloud isn’t coming to Switch, and movie tip combined! The only way I can see it happening is if Nintendo really thought XCloud was a great way to get their IP into the mobile space.
I think your favourite idea is the most likely as well. While MS really want to push GamePass and XCloud, getting Halo on Switch gives them a marketing opportunity in Japan ahead of Halo Infinity. I can imagine a Halo themed Switch console to go along with this as well.

126HeadPirateMon 12th Apr 2021
For sure it is.
Step 1: Game pass on Switch.
Step 2: Nintendo buys the completely unprofitable Xbox division from MS. To be clear, that’s JUST hardware. MS keeps their $20-30 billion worth of studios and go software only. A branding agreement will keep the Xbox and MS on the next console, Nintendo Xbox.
Step 3: The other side of the deal is that now that MS finally has a in with Japan, MS starts buying up Japanize studios like they are Pokémon and they gotta collect them all. All of them go game pass day one and cross play.
Step 4: Nintendo wins. They have dominated the handheld market for …. well, ever, seeing they created it and have never not been #1. And while PlayStation is a hugely successful brand, it’s got nothing on the combined loyalty and good will of Nintendo AND Xbox. Plus the value is INSANE, basically every game you want to play day one included in a $200 a year pass, which you can play on Switch, PC and Xbox. It’s not just exclusives … Sony has almost no software anymore period. So now they own the home console market as well. Microsoft finally gets to dumb Xbox division, which has been losing money for 20 years, while game passes position means MS gets $20 a month from everyone who plays video games.
127boxyguyTue 13th Apr 2021
haha do you think they liiiiiikeee each other?
128TottTue 13th Apr 2021
Some form of modified gamepass would be great. I’m sure they could make it recognize it’s running on a Switch and filter out any games available on Switch already.
MS could use this strategy to basically make Sony PS an afterthought going forward, and (extreme outcome) have no competition if they decide to release another heavy hitter console for those that want the tech specs. With this, Nintendo consoles would effectively be the series s entry point to the xbox ecosystem.
Extreme outcome to a somewhat unlikely scenario. But hey, we’re in the rumour section, dare to dream.
129NinfanTue 13th Apr 2021
I think, I spotted some Sega stuff there too !
130UltimateOtaku91Tue 13th Apr 2021
This would be welcomed as I’m sick of having mostly ports, infact in doing this there would be no need to get buy an xbox anymore as all you would need is a playstation 5 and a Nintendo switch to play all console games so will save me money on consoles.
131abbyhitterTue 13th Apr 2021
Maybe Microsoft bought out Nintendo, and they are merging.
132ArkayTue 13th Apr 2021
Perfect Dark on Switch? Banjo Tooie on Switch? Please and thank you.
133jon625Tue 13th Apr 2021
Rare Replay (even just the N64 games) would be great on Switch. I highly doubt it would happen though.
134KamalenTue 13th Apr 2021
@abbyhitter I know you’re joking, but Nintendo is just worth a mere billion more than Bethesda today. If anything the real difficulty is that Nintendo is publicly traded on stock market, making any takeover highly more expensive than the current worth.
135RiasGremoryTue 13th Apr 2021
@anoyonmus Doomslayer must make it in smash first before anyone else or they be rip and tear from us.
136BoilerBroJoeTue 13th Apr 2021
137desireefan36Tue 13th Apr 2021
@anoyonmus that’s not possible because they would need to get permission from the owners of the james bond/007 IP to use it and they also have to get permission from the actor who was used for James bond to use his likeness and the James bond/007 IP owner from what I’ve heard have become strict about using the James bond/007 IP
138desireefan36Tue 13th Apr 2021
the only thing i see happening that was listed as a possibility to happen is that Nintendo changed their minds about not having Xbox game pass on switch and xbox game pass is going to come to switch and nothing else, and no, master chief is not coming to smash ultimate as a dlc fighter, the only way he’s getting in is as a mii costume only because we already have a Microsoft rep in fighter’s pass 2
139JSDude1Tue 13th Apr 2021
ALL of the above!!
140JSDude1Tue 13th Apr 2021
@Oh_Well also now that MS owns Bethesda/Zenimax also Fallout Ports on Switch.
141JSDude1Tue 13th Apr 2021
@TSR3 Yes, please!
142JSDude1Tue 13th Apr 2021
@MatthewTaranto AND you shall because that will be the exact price point MS and Nintendo will agree on per the usual “Nintendo Tax”..either that or Nintendo and MS will only make 3000 physical copies available worldwide so you’ll have to pay scalpers . Kidding of course.
143MaulbertTue 13th Apr 2021
@JSDude1 Yes. A 3 & New Vegas combo pack.
144anoyonmusTue 13th Apr 2021
@desireefan36 it still could be down but yeah you are right it is unlikely
145anoyonmusTue 13th Apr 2021
@desireefan36 yeah I doubt he would come.
But Doom Slayer might come hopefully at some point
146anoyonmusTue 13th Apr 2021
But Doom slayer is now microsoft’s so it is possible though.
I seriously doubt we will get Halo MCC on switch .
But look at here. https://www.dexerto.com/smash/nintendo-responds-to-fan-asking-for-rayman-to-join-smash-ultimate-1552195/
147SuperToeTue 13th Apr 2021
Whatever you think is happening, lower your expectations by 90% and you’ll still be disappointed.
148PacificStarTue 13th Apr 2021
@HeadPirate Nah, all speculation , just like the release of the Nintendo Pro supposably in 2018. And then 2019. And then 2020.. Microsoft tried to buy Nintendo in the past and it wasn’t pretty. I wouldn’t get too hyped about anything significant.. someone did mention Azure, so it could be something like that. But Nintendo will never Merge with another 1rst party. Nintendo is Nintendo, and I think it prides itself on that
149flying_night_slasherTue 13th Apr 2021
@jump Exactly what I was thinking they tried buying out Nintendo back before the first Xbox came out but they were laughed out of the room but Microsoft ain’t a laughing stock anymore they thought that they couldn’t do anything with gaming well look around you an entire Xbox game studios multiple studios and Microsoft owns one of the biggest games of all time: Minecraft
150desireefan36Tue 13th Apr 2021
@anoyonmus master chief would only be allowed to be a mii costume and negotiations for doom content never went anywhere so doom content is not coming to smash ultimate, and yes, the director of doom eternal said that negotiations never went anywhere which means that doom content was never obtained, also, doom content would most likely force sakurai to change smash ultimate’s rating in Japan and sakurai doesn’t want to do that
151RiasGremoryTue 13th Apr 2021
@desireefan36 theres a good chance of doomslayer making it way into smash man cant rule anything out and its not like their going to put blood in it since its all about fighting and stuff.
152luckiernutTue 13th Apr 2021
Xcloud on switch would make sense
153Cyberbotv2Tue 13th Apr 2021
I just think it’s Rare Replay. And maybe Battletoads. Nothing more than that.
154InitialDriftS13Tue 13th Apr 2021
Hopefully we get a Diddy Kong Racing sequel out of this and it would be great for if it came out on Xbox family consoles and the Switch. It would be really positive for the industry.
155ModdedInklingTue 13th Apr 2021
I’d imagine the most we’d be getting from Microsoft would be (the long awaited) games from Rare, the indie games, Bethesda games, and older Xbox-exclusives.
156PoodlestargenericaTue 13th Apr 2021
@gameboy1975 I should say Nintendo and Sony share market space, rather than compete. I do no think Nintendo actively cares what Sony is doing for the most part.
157MoistnadoTue 13th Apr 2021
I don’t have an Xbox so I don’t care about getting Xbox services on Switch. I would love some halo, conker, battletoads, perfect dark games or something. Didn’t we just get Zoo Tycoon? I think that is Microsoft?
158UnwantedDesignTue 13th Apr 2021
While I can see them working together by either allowing xCloud to run natively on an upcoming Switch Pro or allowing some Nintendo games on Gamepass in exchange for some of the Bethesda titles to come to Nintendo’s console, I can’t see Microsoft selling them Rare. They seem quite happy with how that studio is working out for them since Spencer freed them from the handcuffs that his predecessors had placed on them.
159SpidersTue 13th Apr 2021
@yuwarite Not that I think it will happen, but you could have a different library available on Switch so any multi-platform games released on Switch are not available on Game Pass. Pretty sure they do something similar on PC.
Who’se making multi platforms for Switch really besides Bethesda? Might be more profitable via Game Pass.
160rockodoodleTue 13th Apr 2021
How about a bundle with MSFT xcloud with Nintendo Online?
161HeadPirateTue 13th Apr 2021
Sure it’s speculation. What the heck else would it be! I don’t have a press release of anything.
This is the same type of comment I keep getting 4 months ago when I first started talking about gamepass on switch, and it basically boils down to understanding that Xbox division, a small, profitless part of MS accounting for less then 0.01% of revenue is NOT the same as MS Studios, Xbox live, or game pass, which are all insanely profitable but handed under different umbrellas. The only resources bought would be Xbox.
As for “Nintendo is Nintendo” that’s just objectively false. Nintendo is a 140 year old company that buys major game studies pretty frequently and they have bought hardware assets (companies that are manufacturing parts they use) in the past as well. This wouldn’t even by the first time they bought a direct competitor … they bought SEGA. Most recently they bought Monolith and 1-up games. So “Nintendo” is 4 first party studios (NST, NTD, NERD and NSD), 7 studios they bought and run directly, and around 12 3rd party studios they own a major stack in that make games exclusively for Nintendo, like Camelot Software Planning, a 3rd party team that make the Mario Tennis and Golf series … and one other that isn’t coming to mind.
Heck they own a soccer team, a taxi company, a candy producer, and at one point has a controlling stake in an airline. That’s just the realities of how large companies operate … you buy smaller companies (which, again, XBOX division is).
Buy hey, it’s far more likely I’m way off then not … there is just a lot happening that makes me think this is going to be bigger then we think. Right now, gamepass and MS developing and hosting and online network for them (or just adding it to Live somehow) seem like pretty safe bets.
162backup368Tue 13th Apr 2021
@Morph They just bought Bethesda.
163ChromaticDraculaTue 13th Apr 2021
Give me one good reason Master Chief would be in Smash. Like seriously … what game does Master Chief have that’s on any Nintendo console? Name one. Exactly.
:: wipes and claps hands together ::
164desireefan36Tue 13th Apr 2021
@RiasGremory last year the director of doom eternal said negotiations for doom content never went anywhere when a representative from Nintendo had a meeting with the head of bethesda, which means they couldn’t come to any kind of agreement for doom content which in turn means doom content is not coming to smash, also, not all game genres will be represented in smash nor should they be, a first person shooter rep should not be anything more than a mii costume
165TheFullAndyTue 13th Apr 2021
No chance Gamepass is coming to Switch.
166FandabidoziTue 13th Apr 2021
I’m not clear on what Xbox live or Gamepass actually is. Do you get to download and ‘keep’ the games like on PS+? Is it available in every region? How many games are there? Is KOTOR one of em?
167NoelscoTue 13th Apr 2021
Nhl on switch pls.
168Gamer83Tue 13th Apr 2021
That would be the absolute worst possible outcome.
169anoyonmusTue 13th Apr 2021
@desireefan36 not really.
We already have M rated characters in smash. It is possible still.
Doom slayer has a higher chance of coming to smash than characters like Sora and Master Chief
170anoyonmusTue 13th Apr 2021
Why do people want Master Chief in smash anyway?
Halo is not gonna be on switch.
Doom Slayer has a better chance of coming to smash than Master Chief.
171LanmannaTue 13th Apr 2021
@jump what is going on with your avi?
172desireefan36Tue 13th Apr 2021
@anoyonmus what part of ‘negotiations for doom content did not go anywhere’ do you not understand? negotiations that don’t go anywhere means doom content is not coming to smash, also sora is way more likely than master chief or any other highly requested characters because Disney wants sora in smash as a fighter and Disney also has a great relationship with Nintendo, also, sora DOES NOT need Mickey, donald and goofy, also, just because we already have characters from m rated games in smash doesn’t mean that we need more nor does it mean that we are getting another m rated character, also, not all game genres should be represented in smash ultimate with a fighter on the roster, 1st person shooters should be represented with a mii costume only and visual novel games should only be represented with spirits but it’s highly unlikely that every single video game genre will be represented in smash ultimate, just because smash ultimate is a celebration of video games doesn’t automatically mean that all video game genres should be represented
173desireefan36Tue 13th Apr 2021
@HeadPirate Nintendo NEVER bought sega, just because Nintendo is letting sega games be on Nintendo systems and that Nintendo funds to have bayonetta 2 and 3 to be Nintendo exclusive games doesn’t mean Nintendo bought sega
174desireefan36Tue 13th Apr 2021
@HeadPirate Nintendo never owned a soccer team, they used to own a majority of the baseball team the Seattle mariners but they sold all but 10% to First Avenue Entertainment in 2016
175desireefan36Tue 13th Apr 2021
@WhiteTrashGuy goldeneye can’t be brought back because the owners of the 007 IP won’t allow it
176desireefan36Tue 13th Apr 2021
@UnwantedDesign Nintendo won’t allow any of their IPs to be playable on other consoles
177desireefan36Tue 13th Apr 2021
@InitialDriftS13 Nintendo doesn’t want to revisit old games
178romanistaTue 13th Apr 2021
Would have been very excited some time ago.. but now i side loaded xbox game pass on my android tv. And it eorks well… so i gues
S it would work on switch (pro) too, but it will be on almost everything, so ot’s not th?t exciting anymore
179desireefan36Tue 13th Apr 2021
@Poodlestargenerica even though Nintendo doesn’t consider Microsoft or sony as competition, sony sure as hell consider Nintendo and Microsoft as competition, not to mention that sony still hates Nintendo and sony also has shown they no longer care about the Japanese market which is why they recently shut down the only office they had left in Japan
180desireefan36Tue 13th Apr 2021
@anoyonmus Microsoft is highly unlikely to be getting a 2nd fighter in fighter’s pass 2 and i don’t think they should be allowed to get any more fighters on the roster, master chief should just be a mii costume and negotiations for doom content never went anywhere meaning doom content isn’t getting into smash
181a1904Tue 13th Apr 2021
I am flabbergasted that some people seem to think Nintendo would be happy having a third party game streaming service (from a competitor nonetheless which people seem to forget) that would be almost guaranteed to hit software sales on the Switch.
Some people seem to forget that the Switch is almost guaranteed to be the best selling Nintendo home console of all time
182The-Chosen-oneTue 13th Apr 2021
I would love a partnership between the two.
Will never happen tho. A console with Xbox power, xbox controller (still the best imo) and Nintendo games.
Or a crossover game between metroid/Halo
Donkey Kong and Banjo kazooie
Killer instinct on a Nintendo console etc.
183MichaelHarveyTue 13th Apr 2021
Search on Nintendo Switch is going to be powered by Bing.
184ian_bealeTue 13th Apr 2021
Sorry to be chaining rumours to other rumours, but it seems to me like DLSS (if that arrives on a Switch Pro) could massively improve cloud gaming. If it works the way I understand it, then a relatively low resolution image could be sent over your internet connection and then upscaled locally. I would have thought it would make the service far more stable for people with slightly underwhelming internet connections.
So yeah; xCloud feels entirely plausible to me.
185electrolite77Tue 13th Apr 2021
There are plenty of possible Tie ins that could work for both Nintendo and Microsoft.
Xcloud is possible on Switch as long as Microsoft can make it worth Nintendo’s while in terms of payment. That would be the complicated bit to figure out. You could restrict Xcloud on Switch to a selection of games that aren’t on the system but it’s still likely to hit Nintendo’s third-party sales so it will come down to whether the compensation on offer from Microsoft will cover that.
Or maybe we get some Game Pass functionality without Xcloud. There are plenty of games on Game Pass and Switch-the Oris, the Dooms, the Wolfensteins, Hellblade, Minecraft, Skyrim. Maybe GPU subscribers could access them with Nintendo getting ‘per play’ revenue. Works towards MS goal of engagement on many platforms and could generate revenue for Nintendo.
Finances aside it could be mutually beneficial. Switch gets a lot of extra third party support and Microsoft gets another Avenue for Game Pass Ultimate, including the big hole in their plan at the minute-Japan.
In fact being realistic I think it’s more likely we’ll see MS try and leverage the absolute dominance of the Switch in Japan to try and get a foothold there themselves. A Switch port of Master Chief Collection, or even just Halo CE would be great marketing for Halo Infinite (and a big boon for Nintendo Switch Online). Maybe we’ll see ports of older Forza and Gears games to Switch before their new iterations on Xbox.
The other question is Rare Replay. Several games on there are actually 360 games running under emulation. That’s 2 Perfect Dark games, all 3 Banjo games, 2 Viva Pi?ata games, Jet PAC Refuelled and Kameo, while Grabbed by the Ghoulies is also a remaster. They would probably have to be ported individually to Switch. They would run but of course but how much effort would it take and how much cost? How much work to include games like Donkey Kong 64, Diddy Kong Racing and Starfox Adventures that aren’t on Xbox because of licensing issues with Nintendo? Personally I suspect it would be worth it as the Switch Userbase would absolutely lap it up but they would want to get the calculations right.
Could we please use Xbox Live on Switch somehow? Quietly take NSO out?
Lastly that recent Battletoads game is good fun. Perfect fit for the Switch.
186Dround87Tue 13th Apr 2021
I’ve come to complain vigorously about a news site using click bait and reporting on tenuous rumours hurrdeehum! I don’t understand that these guys need to make money or that my clicks and participation in the comments on every piece of clickbait I see drives ad revenue mumpph! Grow up…
187jco83Tue 13th Apr 2021
Nintendo 64 Classic Mini console with Rare games please
188CoxulaTue 13th Apr 2021
I don’t need GamePass because it’s digital and when I hear the word “cloud” I break out in spots. So: No. Microsoft really has nothing to offer for me.
189JeronanTue 13th Apr 2021
XCloud on Switch with Game pass. It has been rumored for so long now. It’s pretty much a given.
190MSXplus2Tue 13th Apr 2021
That’s probably 99% accurate.
I think konami and all their IP will be first. Not the whole of konami just the video game side of the business.
Also this will allow Nintendo to get very very creative with new IP, which they said will be the focus moving forward.
The way Phil Spencer laughs at Xbox Games being exclusive to platforms where Gamepass exists.
I noticed that straight away.
Nintendo Xbox I like it.
I can see the 2 or 3 billion gamers that Phil Spencer talks about being a reality by the end of this decade.
This E3 and the Tokyo Game Show will be interesting.
191Brummieendo90Tue 13th Apr 2021
@FlaviusFire Hung up on privacy? our privacy is a vital part of our freedoms! I’m proud to be hung up on it.
192losloslosTue 13th Apr 2021
I’m hoping this means that classic Bethesda titles could be ported and sold as physical copies on the Switch. Fallout 3, Oblivion, Morrowind would all make great games on the go.
193GruesomeTue 13th Apr 2021
Honestly its hard to say exactly what may happen. But at one point MS had plans to make a hand held xbox one similar to the switch. But it never got off the ground, maybe we’ll see heavy integration or even crossplay.
194aaaaaaTue 13th Apr 2021
They’ve been buddy-buddy for a long time now. Granted, they haven’t done much lately… Maybe xCloud? Xbox doesn’t really get nintendo stuff, but nintendo is definitely getting a lot of crossplay titles.
195BizarreJelly28980Tue 13th Apr 2021
They could bring Conker:Live and Reloaded but it’s uncensord and the graphics (while still pretty good) should be updated a little.
196NotoriousWhizTue 13th Apr 2021
”I don’t have HIGH hopes for this because it’s several years old now but Rare Replay would be my biggest hope. Yes xCloud would be great but Rare Replay almost made me buy an Xbox One”
Real talk. I pre-ordered the batman arkham knight ps4 and weeks later Rare Replay was announced for Xbox one and I canceled my pre order and bought an Xbox one.
197ImerionTue 13th Apr 2021
I truly hope Microsoft and their loathsome business practices will stay far away from Nintendo – who still stand for what I want gaming to be. In that regard I’d much prefer that Nintendo work with Sony. If Microsoft wants to bring some of their games to Switch, sure, but anything else will likely make me very sceptical.
198anoyonmusTue 13th Apr 2021
@desireefan36 exactly why I like Xbox and Nintendo over PlayStation
199anoyonmusTue 13th Apr 2021
@desireefan36 I am pretty sure that Disney did NOT want Sora in smash at all. And I am also pretty sure that is why Sephiroth was chosen instead.
Nintendo was gonna add Sora but Disney said no and they have to make do with Sephiroth
200danflurryTue 13th Apr 2021
I literally just made a Nintendo Life account to like this post.
201LordTue 13th Apr 2021
Not interested in Xbone junk on my switch but I’ll take a physical release of rare replay!
202WhiteTrashGuyTue 13th Apr 2021
Obviously AON productions would have to sign off on it. But, honestly, with the IO Interactive game being at least 2 years away they should throw the fans a bone.
203andrewclearTue 13th Apr 2021
I would just like to see them ditch the crappy online services they have been using with the Wii U and Switch and just have Microsoft run their online services.
204LouBlu08Tue 13th Apr 2021
If they’re gonna make Xbox Game Pass available on switch, they’ll probably rename it.
205FranklinTue 13th Apr 2021
Kind of reminds me of the perpetual war and everchanging alliances between Oceania, Eurasia, and Eastasia in 1984.
206PoodlestargenericaTue 13th Apr 2021
@desireefan36 Also a great point! And I wasn’t aware that they had committed so hard away from the Japanese market.
207desireefan36Tue 13th Apr 2021
@anoyonmus that’s wrong, Disney never said no to sora being in smash, that was false info, go watch the youtube video who owns sora by HMK, he talked to a Disney representative and the Disney representative said Disney wants sora in smash
208desireefan36Tue 13th Apr 2021
@WhiteTrashGuy no they shouldn’t, just because smash ultimate is a celebration of video games doesn’t mean all video games or game genre should be represented with a fighter
209desireefan36Tue 13th Apr 2021
@Poodlestargenerica sony is also censor happy which is why lots of Japanese game developers have stopped making games for playstation, especially anime styled games
210desireefan36Tue 13th Apr 2021
@LouBlu08 highly unlikely that they’ll rename Xbox game pass if it’s put on the switch, Nintendo & Microsoft have a great relationship now, Nintendo would not make Microsoft rename Xbox game pass just to put it on switch
211desireefan36Tue 13th Apr 2021
@Lord rare replay is highly unlikely getting put on switch
212RiasGremoryTue 13th Apr 2021
@desireefan36 that was last year but with lots of fans asking for doomslayer to be in smash they wont ignore that man.
213desireefan36Tue 13th Apr 2021
@Imerion Nintendo will never work with sony ever, sony hates Nintendo and Nintendo hates sony pushing their political ideals onto others and Nintendo hates working with companies that push their political ideals onto other
214AzurisTue 13th Apr 2021
I think they let it open.
Gamepass Ultimate is also usable through streaming on Android Devices.
Since it is only a little Step to port such Thing to the Switch, it stays possible and open.
215desireefan36Tue 13th Apr 2021
@jco83 never happening
216anoyonmusTue 13th Apr 2021
”Microsoft is highly unlikely to be getting a 2nd fighter in fighter’s pass 2 and i don’t think they should be allowed to get any more fighters on the roster,”
oh then Sora shouldn’t be in smash then.
Sora is also owned by Square Enix and they had Hero in the 1st fighter’s pass and Sephiroth in the 2nd one.
So therefore Sora shouldn’t be in smash.
Nintendo themselves have 2 of their OWN characters from their OWN IPs in Fighter’s Pass 2
217desireefan36Tue 13th Apr 2021
@RiasGremory all dlc for fighter’s pass 2 were already chosen and secured way before that info about negotiations for doom content never went anywhere came out and there’s no way in hell Nintendo would waste time and money sending a Nintendo representative back to bethesda just to try to get doom content again, doom content doesn’t belong in smash ever, just because smash ultimate is a celebration of video games as a whole DOES NOT MEAN that all video game series will, should or can be represented in smash ultimate, especially with a fighter, even if Nintendo did go back to try to get doom content for smash ultimate, they would only add doom spirits through a spirit event or a doomguy mii costume only and not scrap a dlc fighter just to add a stupid 1st person shooter rep
218desireefan36Tue 13th Apr 2021
@BizarreJelly28980 that’s highly unlikely to ever happen
219desireefan36Tue 13th Apr 2021
@electrolite77 Nintendo will never allow any of their IPs to be played on xbox
220anoyonmusTue 13th Apr 2021
Same with Microsoft. No WAY that Halo will come to NS
221WhiteTrashGuyTue 13th Apr 2021
I think you are getting your multiple replies mixed up…. I said nothing about SMASH. Maybe you should switch to decaf.
222anoyonmusTue 13th Apr 2021
@Imerion why do you say that.
Sony and Nintendo literally hate each other. What Sony is doing now is just questionable and Microsoft seems to be making better judgements and decisions
223anoyonmusTue 13th Apr 2021
@MatthewTaranto nah man
I would pay 700 DOLLARS FOR IT
224anoyonmusTue 13th Apr 2021
@RiasGremory yeah and also the negotiations that supposedly didn’t go anywhere was before Bethesda was bought by Microsoft, and they said that it didn’t go anywhere BEFORE Doom Eternal came out.
Now that Microsoft has bought Bethesda, it is possible that Microsoft is trying to convince Nintendo to put the Doom Slayer
(or any Bethesda character in smash would be great heck even the guy from Wolfenstein will be great imo) .
225desireefan36Tue 13th Apr 2021
@anoyonmus i never said halo will or could come to switch, and it shouldn’t
226desireefan36Tue 13th Apr 2021
@anoyonmus there’s nothing that Microsoft can say or do to have Nintendo and sakurai to scrap 1 of the last 2 dlc fighters in order to add a bethesda rep as a fighter, sakurai himself said once a character is chosen and agreed on there’s nothing that can be done to change that choice
227desireefan36Tue 13th Apr 2021
@WhiteTrashGuy i don’t drink coffee, just the smell of coffee makes me literally sick to my stomach
228anoyonmusTue 13th Apr 2021
@desireefan36 it won’t.
Unless if Microsoft is willing to put MCC on switch
(which won’t happen), I don’t expect Master Chief in smash
229ImerionTue 13th Apr 2021
@anoyonmus I’m not saying either is a good option, I would of course prefer Nintendo doing their own thing. The reason for Sony would simply be that they have a traditional view of what video games and game consoles should be that I can agree with. There are many things I dislike about that companys policies too, but Microsoft feels far more dangerous as they again and again seem to take decisions that move games more towards services and restricted access. All the debacle around the Xbox One launch, including the draconian rules for borrowing games, is a good example of this. They backed down then due to major backlash, but I don’t doubt they would try again if they could get away with it. Same with Game Pass – I simply don’t trust MS to not turn it into a “Netflix for games” in the future, complete with crap like monthly subscriptions being the only way to have access to the content, games rotating out after a while, account and sign in-requirements, not being able to lend games to friends, etc, etc. Please note, I’m not saying that is what they are doing at the moment, but I don’t trust them to not start doing it in the future.
230electrolite77Tue 13th Apr 2021
I’m not sure I said that Nintendo would allow their IP on Xbox. However things change, ten years ago Nintendo’s then CEO said they would never make Mobile games. There are no hard and fast rules to these things, it’s business.
231HeadPirateTue 13th Apr 2021
I considered this a lot. Why, to me, it seems unlikely is that as a company you are always working with your marketing team on “strong position statements”, which are like buy words when you are selling a new idea. Think of cell phones. The FIRST cell phone maker had to sell people on the idea they need cell phones, after that everyone just says they are better then that guy. MS is selling the idea of a subscription, so they are going to take every chance they can to make strong, objective statements like “only on the Xbox family” or “part of the new way to buy games, only on Xbox”. The reality is that, in American at least, you don’t leave things open because you can just lie. It’s completely normalized for US marketing to mislead people, so no one will bat an eye when 4 months after saying ONLY ON XBOX it’s now on Android as well.
So if he’s NOT taking the chance to make strong statements like that, it’s because he already has a signed deal. That absolutely could be a way to use cloud delivery to bring Xbox games to smart TVs, phones, anything like that … but if it is, why is he posting comics of Mario as Master Chief with a switch on his shelf rather then starting to hype that service?
I mean it’s Phil we are talking about, so the answer honestly could be “because the dude like Mario”. He’s posted videos of himself playing Switch and PlayStation exclusives before, and has mad posts about the release of games like Smash and Last Of US 2 telling Xbox fans to check them out, so not a huge stretch. It IS the first time we’ve seen an competing console in officially produced marketing though, as far as I’m aware.
Sorry I like to rant, so one more thing that supports your idea over mine … Windows Phone was insanely powerful and had software that would still be ground breaking today. They had emulators that would run Android and iOS software on that platform, and a ton of cloud based stuff that never hit market because it wasn’t even worth it to pay the legal fees that would come with “Run Apple aps on Windows Phone!” seeing they never had more then 2% market share. The idea that they are revising some software from that project is very reasonable.

Why not exactly?
MS knows the “win the console wars” ship has sailed at this point, and so they have been pushing cross buy, cross play, and universal delivery as their selling points for years now. Having a cloud delivery of Halo on Switch is just free money seeing you don’t even have to port it … it’s just the PC version running remotely, and Halo being playing on as many screens as possible fits Microsoft new positioning in the market.
”Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition” is a re-release, sure … but the definitive edition is ONLY coming to switch. That’s MS studios directly, not even one of the 2nd parts they own, making a switch exclusive.
So really the only answer to “Why can’t Halo not be on switch” is “because that’s the way it has always been” which is absolutely true … but MS and Xbox are very aggressively not doing things they way they always have right now.

@electrolite77 last year Nintendo said they won’t be making new mobile games anymore
234desireefan36Tue 13th Apr 2021
@anoyonmus Microsoft wants master chief in smash but the likelyhood that he’d be a dlc fighter is highly unlikely, I’m sure Microsoft would be fine with a master chief mii costume
235BizarreJelly28980Tue 13th Apr 2021
@desireefan36 We can hope,we can hope.
236Nintendo_ThumbTue 13th Apr 2021
Battletoads, or maybe the Rare replay collection or Killer Instinct. But it would be cool to play some Halo on Switch, I just doubt it would happen.
237tqmcguireTue 13th Apr 2021
Game Pass doesn’t make much sense. All the games would have to be ported to Switch so the selection would be horrible. xCloud would be perfect. No porting, just streaming. And the Switch has some Android bits in there, where xCloud already works well. That’s my hope.
238desireefan36Tue 13th Apr 2021
@BizarreJelly28980 i don’t want to see master chief in smash unless he’s a mii costume, I believe the last 2 dlc fighters are shantae and sora

“ last year Nintendo said they won’t be making new mobile games anymore”
I don’t see the relevance of that apart from illustrating my point given that they have since announced a Pikmin app. However I’m not sure they ever actually said that, it came from a Bloomberg report. A reputable source, yes, but not something Nintendo stated. Indeed in their Annual report a few weeks after that Bloomberg story, Nintendo listed Mobile games as a ‘target area’ for expanding their IP.

jco83: “Nintendo 64 Classic Mini console with Rare games please ?”
desireefan36: “@jco83 never happening”
@desireefan36 How can you be so sure of that? SNES Classic Mini included Rare’s Donkey Kong Country
242desireefan36Tue 13th Apr 2021
@jco83 i meant that a n64 classic mini is never happening
243chemicalWed 14th Apr 2021
Can they PLEASE sell Rare back to Nintendo? I really, REALLY want a new Snake Rattle n Roll game. So damn bad.
244electrolite77Wed 14th Apr 2021
This might come as a shock but unless you are on Nintendo’s board you have no idea what they will do next. Those who think they do and make definitive statements about it are usually wrong.
245BizarreJelly28980Wed 14th Apr 2021
@desireefan36 I want either Shantae or Travis.
246Iggy-KoopaWed 14th Apr 2021
@Dringo No, it isn’t.

desireefan36: “@jco83 i meant that a n64 classic mini is never happening”
@desireefan36 How can you know?
248desireefan36Wed 14th Apr 2021
@jco83 there’s absolutely no reason to make a n64 classic mini, the only reason why the nes mini was made was because they needed something to put out while they were working on making the switch and the snes mini was made because they needed to test the emulation before they added nes and snes to Nintendo Online Services

@BizarreJelly28980 travis touchdown is deconfirmed because he’s a mii costume

I’ll be happy if minecraft console edition goes back on sale: https://www.change.org/p/microsoft-put-minecraft-console-edition-back-on-digital-purchase also FORZA ON SWITCH and the purchases BETTER SYNC if gamepass comes on switch
251DringoWed 14th Apr 2021
@Iggy-Koopa Yes it does. Nintendo Cloud Streaming is operated by Ubitius, which runs on Microsoft Azure
252Iggy-KoopaThu 15th Apr 2021
@Dringo Ubitus isn’t a part of Nintendo, so it’s Ubitus that uses Azure to stream games to Switch as a third party. That ain’t the same thing as Nintendo using Azure to provide cloud services to users, like, at all.
253BizarreJelly28980Thu 15th Apr 2021
@desireefan36 I know he has a Mii costume(I bought it)but I still hope he makes it in.
254desireefan36Thu 15th Apr 2021
@BizarreJelly28980 travis touchdown can’t be a mii costume and a dlc fighter, he’s a 3rd party character, only Nintendo owned 1st party characters are allowed to be fighters and have mii costumes, travis touchdown is deconfirmed from being a dlc fighter, maybe we’ll get a no more heroes 3 spirit event later this year but we’re not getting any no more heroes music
255DringoThu 15th Apr 2021
@Iggy-Koopa That semantics might be true. But my statement, which was ‘the service they have already uses Azure’ is still accurate and your response to it was not
Regardless, Spencer isn’t in charge of Azure. It may be a Game Stack thing, if it’s anything at all, but you’d have to hope for an xCloud thing.
256cammers1995Fri 16th Apr 2021
My dream (which is a pipe dream, I know) would be to see ports of several popular Microsoft owned IPs be brought over. I want to see Fallout 3/NV, Oblivion, The Evil Within 1 and 2, State Of Decay and more.
Would love to see GamePass come as well in some form.
257BizarreJelly28980Fri 16th Apr 2021
@desireefan36 Aw that sucks but wait I get him not getting a full character but what do you mean we can’t get NMH music in Smash Sans came with Megalovaina and he was a Mii costume so there’s a chance that maybe we could get NMH music without Travis getting a full character reveal.
258desireefan36Fri 16th Apr 2021
@BizarreJelly28980 if we were going to get a NMH music track then it would have come with the travis touchdown mii costume but it didn’t, the only way for additional music to be added is if it’s with a mii costume or with a challenger pack they have never added additional music for free or as paid dlc and they never will but not every 3rd party mii costume will come with a music track, also, the sans and cuphead mii costumes were the only mii costumes that came with a music track, and the reason is partly because they are indie characters, partly because that’s the only way they’d be allowed to add a music track from the games they come from, partly because they look like a full playable character with the masks and partly because sakurai thought the music track he had come with the sans mii costume and the cuphead mii costume were fitting for smash
259Iggy-KoopaSat 17th Apr 2021
@Dringo Your statement wasn’t accurate at all, which was that Nintendo’s cloud service – something they don’t have – uses Azure. A third party that uses Azure to stream a game to Switch categorically is not part of Nintendo, therefore I stand firm
260DringoSat 17th Apr 2021
@Iggy-Koopa I said the cloud service they have, which is Ubitus, uses Azure. Just like the chipsets they have is Nvidia. Don’t play semantics with me because I’ll knock you around the park.
Ubitus is the service Nintendo has commissioned to work with them and third parties on Switch streaming. I know this from my recent interview with Hakan Abrak on how Hitman 3 happened. Nintendo even did the approaching.
It’s quite possible that Nintendo might develop their own cloud streaming system and abandon their partner (although if they wanted to have more control, I think it’s more likely they’ll acquire them or invest in them, like they did with DeNA in mobile). And it’s possible they’ll sign Azure to power it, just like PlayStation has.
However, Azure already powers game streaming on Switch. So it’s not much of a story. Which was the motivation behind my initial comment.
261Iggy-KoopaSat 17th Apr 2021
@Dringo Hahaha, knock me around the park.
